Walks: Hart to Haswell Walkway
This beautiful disused railway line extends north from Hart Station towards Haswell. The site is managed by the Countryside Team and Volunteers and contains a mosaic of habitats including woodland, butterfly glades and ponds.
It forms part of Sustrans National Cycle Network (Route 14) and is accessible by bike or on foot. The walkway was originally a route for carrying coal from the coalfields further north to the docks on the Tees. A railway was built along this route by George Stevenson in 1835.
