Headland War Memorial
The Headland War Memorial is located in Redheugh Gardens and is dedicated to those Hartlepool civilians and military servicemen who lost their lives in the First and Second World War’s.
Protruding in the centre is a large bronze statue of a winged figure. The draped Winged Victory (also called Triumphant Youth) symbolises a spiritual freedom and regeneration that follows pain and suffering. This Grade II structure was unveiled in 1921 by the Earl of Durham.
A memorial wall also resides within the gardens. The Whitbed Portal Stone wall features five bronze slate panel listing the names of those deceased.
